About the Project

The historic Carpenter Theatre received an extensive interior renovation including expansion of the stage house, completely replacing fly galleries, loading gallery, grid iron and stage roof. In addition, the former Thalhimer’s Department Store was renovation and attached to create multiple performing arts venues under one roof. These spaces include:

Rhythm Hall: flexible intimate venue to local performing artists and special events
Libby Gottwald Community Playhouse: small theater with flexible seating pattern to accommodate the individual needs of each production, with performance hall quality acoustics and lighting
Genworth BrightLights Education Center: classrooms, teaching spaces and offices
Showcase Gallery: reception space for visual arts
