Jackie joined Dunbar with 16 years of experience in the AE industry, having worked on building projects in both public and private sectors. While her favorite projects to work on are K-12 schools, she greatly enjoys having a wide variety of projects to engage her mind. She loves working collaboratively with design and contracting teams to actively solve problems, find efficiencies, and generally keep projects moving forward at speed.
Jackie’s passion for her work extends beyond her work responsibilities. She served for 10 years on the board of the Structural Engineers Association of Virginia, working to bring continuing education and networking opportunities to the local structural engineering community. She also enjoys speaking with students about becoming an engineer, and has previously served as a volunteer judge for the American Society of Civil Engineers Richmond Chapter’s youth Popsicle Bridge Contest and the American Institute of Steel Construction’s Virginia Regional College Student Steel Bridge Competition.
Outside of engineering or engineering-related hobbies, Jackie enjoys jigsaw puzzles, travel, audiobooks, and spending time with her family. She met husband Matt while they were both in graduate school in Charlottesville, VA, at the unlikely venue of rugby practice; both were avid rugby players, though now they have both solidly transitioned to the fan side of the sport. They are blessed with two elementary school aged children, who keep them on their toes.
