Jeff has worked for Dunbar since 1992. His most recent work has been focused on healthcare projects, higher education instructional and lab space, and K-12 schools. In addition to architectural project work, Jeff leads our team of engineers that perform delegated structural design for contractors in a broad palette of structural materials. He has served on the board of the Structural Engineers Association of Virginia for 10 years, represented the group at the NCSEA national convention, and has presented technical content for continuing education seminars.
Perhaps one of Jeff’s strongest gifts is his incredible memory. He is the “go-to” guy for information in the office. On older projects he usually remembers who we worked for, who built it, and how we solved some unique engineering issues. He’s like a walking database!
Jeff is known for his sense of humor. He once asked a client why they recommended him, and the answer was “Because you’re funny and life is too short to work with people who don’t have a sense of humor.” While he hoped his skill and expertise had won them over, he understands that successful engineering is also about building lasting relationships.
Jeff is married to Cynthia who teaches students with dyslexia and trains other professionals in specific methodologies for instructing children with this learning disability. Jeff and Cynthia are blessed with two great kids, Alex and Elizabeth. Most of Jeff’s spare time is spent walking his mini-schnauzer Harmony, cheering for Duke basketball and watching Formula One racing.
